About SNEC-PMI
Mission Statement
To provide resources, professional development and networking opportunities to enhance Project Management
Vision Statement
A better Southern New England through Project Management
History
The Southern New England Chapter of PMI was established in 1983 to cover all of the Connecticut area as well as Western Massachusetts and part of New York. We will celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2013. we also reached the 1,000th member milestone. At the beginning of 2012 our membership count was over 1,700 members with 70 percent of those holding the PMP certification.
Coverage
Most of our members work and live in the greater Connecticut area, covering a wide mix of industries and project professions.
Our monthly chapter dinner meetings are held in Cromwell, CT—about 14 miles south of Hartford. Other meetings, satellite meetings, and roundtables are held in Stamford, Shelton, and Glastonbury, CT and Springfield, MA. These meetings offer an excellent opportunity for networking and education. Additionally, SNEC-PMI hosts an annual conference in Hartford. This conference, which is considered among the best in New England and the Mid-Atlantic States, offers a full day of seminars and a half-day of specialized four-hour workshops.
Innovation
In response to the local employment atmosphere and needs of our members, SNEC-PMI project teams have created a Job Search Tips and Tools website (hosted along with this site), and a Job Alert application to help connect project organizations to available professionals. In recent years we've greatly expanded educational and networking opportunities, including offering PMP preparation and PM refresher courses. More than ever, we have a membership that is excited about expanding the dynamics or our organization and eager to participate.
Moving forward, ongoing opportunities to serve on the board of directors or one of several project committees can help to make SNEC-PMI one of the premiere professional organizations locally available.
We invite you to investigate our chapter further. Join us at one of our meetings, or explore this web site for news and recent and upcoming events. The Membership area will provide examples of available resources.
To join SNEC-PMI, you must first be a PMI member. When you join the Project Management Institute you can select a local chapter. For more information on PMI, go to www.pmi.org.
