Darwyn Azzinaro, PMP

President/CEO

Darwyn Azzinaro has been a PMI member since 1997, a PMP since 1999 and on the SNEC Board of Directors since 2002 (Treasurer, Director of Education and currently Director of Communications). He is also a certified OPM3 Assessor and Consultant. He has a passion for volunteer leadership and actively contributes to the project management profession. Additionally, he is an experienced project manager and instructor.

Darwyn has a record of solid accomplishments with the SNEC-PMI Chapter and PMI. He established and chaired the SNEC Strategic Planning Committee which introduced the organization to strategic and operational planning and budgeting. Also, he created and chaired the SNEC Education Committee and was chair of the SNEC Project Management Conference Committee which delivered SNEC’s first conference. He was part of PMI’s Portfolio and Program Management standard development team and is currently on PMI’s standards development team for OPM3, Second Edition.

Darwyn is currently a project management methodology consultant for InSource. Darwyn’s previous positions include Sr. Project Manager at Aetna and Sr. Project Manager with Siemens Business Services. Additionally, he instructs Project Management Fundamentals, PMP Prep and PMO courses and is a part-time adjunct professor at Holyoke Community College.

Norm Prevost, PMP

Chief Operating Officer

Norm has over 9 year’s successful project management experience for business and technology initiatives. Norm has been a project manager with The United Illuminating Company since 2002. Before joining the Program Management Center he worked in the Information Technology department at UI for 4 years as an systems architect managing a number of technology projects. His prior experience includes project management and IT architecture at Bristol Myers Squibb and Cowles Business Media. Norm holds the Project Management Professional designation and a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems. Past President and Treasurer for several sports leagues and charity groups in Connecticut.

Kim Chamerda, PMP

Chief Financial Officer

Kim has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry in roles ranging from project/program manager, manager of matrixed teams, benefits consultant and financial underwriter to line/departmental manager. She has been involved in large-scale projects since 1995.

Kim has both a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and an MBA in Finance and Healthcare Management from the University of Connecticut. She received a Masters Certificate in Project Management from Boston University in 2000 and then her PMP designation in 2001.

She currently lives in Bloomfield where she is an elected official in her town government. She is also an adjunct instructor at local colleges teaching PM and strategic management classes.

Kim became active in the Southern New England chapter in 2000. Kim has been very active in the chapter and helped craft the SNEC job search functionality and content which now reside on the website; she has also served as a chapter meeting PM several times in the past.

She strongly advocates that chapter members utilize the networking aspects available at the SNEC chapter meetings and the job fairs as they are a vital membership benefit in the current economy.

Fred Johnson, PMP

Corporate Secretary

 Fred has over 14 years successful project engineering management for aerospace technology initiatives as a project manager with United Technologies Corporation. His prior experience includes project management at Sikorsky Aircraft. At Sikorsky, Fred was the team lead for many technology projects, most notably, the first engine source selection for a military platform in the company’s history. Fred currently works at Pratt & Whitney where he leads a team to develop innovative engine repair solutions for the F-22 Raptor.

Fred has expertise in Team Building, project planning, problem resolution, earned value management, and strategic technology solutions. Fred was also the Project Manager for the SNEC-PMI Restructuring Committee that will allow the SNEC chapter to grow even stronger.

Fred holds the Project Management Professional designation, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University, and a Master of Science in Technology Management from the University of Bridgeport.

Michael G. Smith, PMP

Past President

Michael has nearly 30 years of project management and professional management for business and technology under his belt, and is always on the lookout for new challenges.  Michael is the Past President of the SNEC-PMI chapter and is the current VP of Infrastructure. Michael is currently a Project Management Team Lead at CIGNA in their IT division. His prior experience includes management positions at The Allied Group, LinkSoft Technologies, and Hartford Hospital as well as some independent consulting.

In addition to his professional career, he is active in several other areas. Michael has been actively involved with SNEC-PMI since 2001, helping to create and staff the first Programs Committee. Michael is an active member of the Board of Directors at the Hartford Healthcare Credit Union and has also been active in leadership roles in youth hockey organizations (Connecticut LaZers, Connecticut Whalers, and Northern CT Youth Hockey) and several golf leagues and other volunteer activites.

Michael holds the Project Management Professional certification, a Masters in Computer Science, a Bachelor of Science degree in Management, and an Associates degree in Data Processing.

Robert Boshka, PMP

Robert has been a member of PMI and SNEC since 1999, a PMP since 2002 and has been actively involved in the Programs Committee since its inception. .Robert has contributed to the chapter in many ways.

Robert is the Founder and Managing Director of True-Gain, LLC; a professional services firm helping organizations develop strategy, identify business solutions and deliver sustainable results that provide true benefit. Robert is responsible for sales, marketing, technical services, customer support, employee training, business development and strategic alliances. Prior to founding True-Gain, Robert held senior executive positions for Information Technology System Integration organizations, NSI and Innovative Information Solutions and as a senior project manager at The Allied Group, providing information technology and process solutions to client’s business challenges.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the Bridgeport Engineering Institute, now Fairfield University. . Robert also has achieved Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma Black Belt certifications. Robert serves on the Executive Committee of the Fairfield/Westchester Chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM).

Rick Narowski, PMP

Rick is the President of R.E. Narowski & Associates LLC, a management consulting service, specializing in business systems integration and optimization.  He has over 30 years of experience in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Information Technologies and Program management.  He has a BSEE and MSCS from the University of Connecticut and a MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 

Prior to starting his own business, Rick was the Chief Information Officer for Hamilton Sundstrand’s Industrial and International businesses, and a member of the mergers and acquisition team.  He was responsible for leading the strategic IT initiatives for these businesses and managing the projects dealing with integrating the geographically diverse operations.   In 1994, Rick was the senior HS representative and project manager for a $31M program to create an aerospace design and manufacturing joint venture in Moscow, Russia.  He has also directed the Quality audit program, written several sections of a Malcolm Baldridge application which earned a site visit, and established a Software Quality Assurance department.  He successfully led a project to establish a design and manufacturing center in Frankfurt Germany to address the Airbus market.

 

Rick has also been active with community support.  He was the chairman of the Board of Directors for RADAR, an alcohol and drug abuse resource center in Hartford; member of the Board of Directors for Wheeler Clinic; and member of the Canton Zoning commission.  He is also a strong supporter of the United Way and its Day of Caring, and Habitat for Humanity.  You can find him on one of the Habitat builds in the greater Hartford area, or on one of their international Global Villages efforts.  He is a private pilot, and serves as the Treasurer of the Connecticut Valley Flyers, Inc.

Regina Lumia, PMP

 

Gina has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry in various roles from development to project lead, project manager, and director of portfolio/project management. She is currently employed at Travelers as Sr. Director -  Portfolio/Program Management working in a data warehouse group. She has a team of project managers whose focus is project delivery in a complex environment. Gina has been a Sr. Director - Portfolio/Program Management with Travelers since 2006 and one of her primary goals has been to define and implement project management best practices in her area. Her prior experience includes project and program management at Hartford Life and The Hartford, as well as many other companies as a consultant.

Gina has been an active member of the chapter for several years working with Programs, Education, and Membership. She was instrumental in the development and rollout of the SNEC PMI Mentoring program. She has been the Director of Professional Development for the past three years.
Gina received the Project Management Professional designation in 2003 and a holds a degree in Information Systems.

Mark R. Rasmussen, PMP

Mark has over 30 years of successful Global Program and Project Management experience in both Business and Information Technology.

He currently works for Health Net in Shelton, CT in an Information Technology Program Manager role.  He has worked for CIGNA, Aetna, ACNielsen, Dun & Bradstreet, NCR Comten and Bunker Ramo during his professional career.  He has built a Global IT Program Management Office (PMO) and has managed large complex Programs.

Mark has also been involved and held leadership positions in several community activities such as Relay for Life, Special Olympics, and Pom Pon, cheerleading & soccer parent clubs.

Mark has an A.S. in Data Processing from Waterbury State Technical College, a B.S. Computer Science / Information Systems from Quinnipiac College, and holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and has been a member in good standing of PMI SNEC since 2001. 

Mark has been involved in the PMI SNEC Programs Committee where he was the project manager for several meetings.  He also launched the first PMO Local Interest Group (LIG) for the Westchester Chapter of PMI.  He joined the SNEC Professional Development portfolio as the VP of Continuing Education and led the Committee to set up the first PMP Exam Preparation course.

Wayne Botha, PMP

Wayne has experience managing eCommerce IT projects and production software release programs. Wayne’s formal education includes a B.Sc majoring in Psychology and Information Systems and an MBA in E-Business. Wayne has trained students in Saudi Arabia and managed IT projects in both South Africa and the USA. As a coach, trained through Coach University, Wayne coaches project managers to reach new levels of professional and personal effectiveness.

In his current role as Enterprise Release Manager for CIGNA, Wayne manages release programs for Enterprise-wide project deployments to CIGNA's production IT systems. Prior project management roles include managing eCommerce Projects and Performance testing projects.

Wayne currently serves SNEC-PMI as VP of Membership and has presented at monthly chapter meetings. Wayne is a faculty member at Axia College where he facilitates courses in Systems Analysis and Design, with a Project Management focus. Wayne is a faculty at Toastmasters Leadership Institute, teaching leadership skills to Toastmaster club officers.

Wayne is a published author and enthusiastic Toastmaster. Toastmasters International develops Communication and Leaderships skills which has certainly helped Wayne in his role of Area B2 Governor for Toastmasters.

Lynn Van Sweden, PMP

Lynn has over 15 years of successful project and program management for business and technology initiatives, including defining and implementing best practices. She has been involved in project management with Diageo since 2001. Her prior experience includes project and program management at Coca-Cola, Northrop Grumman, and Millennium Chemicals as well as for non profit organizations in a volunteer capacity. She is also the team lead for several special interest groups at her current company and currently holds the position of Treasurer with their Project Management Network. She was instrumental in the recent effort to reorganize the board structure and by-laws update.

Lynn holds the Project Management Professional designation, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting and financial analysis.

Carin Salonia, PMP


Carin has served on the SNEC Conference Committee in 2008 & 2009, providing leadership and overall program oversight to the team.  Carin has over 15 years in program and project management for both business and technology initiatives including development of best practices, standards and new process implementation.  Carin has spent half of her career in health care, providing direct hands on patient care, developed clinical practice standards as a respiratory therapist and was a part of the first state wide aeromedical program, Life Star.  Carin led the implementation of physician performance reporting, state and national wide benchmarking and product line analysis for enhanced clinical outcomes management and managed care contracting and negotiations at a local tertiary hospital.  Carin has over nine years in IT consulting, implementing process changes and managing medium and large on-and-offshore system development teams for the CT Department of Public Health, Department of Children’s and Families, Mohegan Sun, Bioterrorism Preparedness, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Terrorism Preparedness and Hartford Life.   Carin recently holds a transformation program director role in Hartford Property and Casualty for Financial Planning and Reporting, designing a new outlooking, forecasting and business reporting process and system. Carin holds masters of Organizational Behavior, bachelors of Science in Respiratory Care, PMP certification and is a Six Sigma greenbelt.  .

Craig F. Radocy, PMP

 

Craig is a multi-disciplined project manager, change agent, and process improvement business leader with over 15 years of increasing management responsibilities. Craig has been a Senior Project Manager with The Hartford, Hartford Technology Services Company, since 2004. His prior experience includes Engineering Services Competency Manager at United Illuminating, Director of Operations for Avexxis Corporation, a Partner of Control Solutions New England, and a Project Manger for ABB. Craig holds the Project Management Professional designation, Master of Science on Operations Management from RPI, and a BSEE from UCONN.

Craig has participated in the creation of the SNEC-PMI Board of Directors Handbook, manned the SNEC-PMI booth at the Connecticut EXPO center, presented “Best Practices in Communications Planning” with Annelise Dadras at a monthly meeting, and spearheaded PMP study group formation at The Hartford. In addition, Craig is the assistant coach of the Canton U14 Travel Soccer team. He enjoys fly fishing, skiing, basketball, and most sporting activities.
