SNEC Revises Bylaws - Member Vote Needed
Dear Members,
A little over four years ago we embarked down a path to restructure how the board of directors and the chapter operate. First we began with our bylaws and structured the board so that it was strategic and our committees were operational. Secondly we aligned our financials and programs years so they were both calendared based. Now we have reached our final phase by aligning the start of board terms with the calendar year as well. PMI Global recently reviewed our bylaws and accepted our change from a June start for the board to a January start. We now ask for your approval.
You will find our revised bylaws here (note: you must be logged into the SNEC site to view the bylaws). If you are a SNEC member in good standing, you will soon receive an email asking for your vote in support of the bylaws approved by the SNEC Board of Directors, and PMI. This is the final step in approving our current revision of the SNEC bylaws.
To summarize we have made the following changes in this revision:
- Alignment of the chapter's bylaws to agree with PMI's diversity statement.
- Corrected the mis-identification of non-profit to not for profit.
- The term of a board member shall begin on January 1st following the year they were elected.
- If a board position remains vacant after an election we will hold a special election to fill that position.
- If a board position becomes vacant because a board member leaves early we reserve the right to appoint someone to complete the term of that member.

A member must be in good standing for at least three previous years to qualify for the hardship provision. Under the provision, a member is granted a waiver for one year of PMI Membership dues and one year of dues for membership in any two PMI Components of which the applicant was a member the previous year. The Hardship provision may be granted for a maximum of two years for each member. |
