Purpose
In 1984, the Project Management Institute (PMI) implemented the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Program. Certification provides those working in the project management field with a structured method to aid professional development. Benefits of certification are enhancement of knowledge, skills, and visibility as a project management professional. Certification is conferred after successfully completing an application and examination process.

In today’s economic climate and job losses it is extremely important for Project Managers to maintain and improve their project management knowledge and skills and the PMP Certification is a critical component.

The PMI SNEC Continuing Education Committee discussed several educational opportunities for its membership, which includes; Introduction to Project Management, (CAPM) Certified Associate in Project Management, (PMI-SP) PMI Scheduling Professional, (PMI-RMP) PMI Risk Management Professional, (PMP) Project Management Professional, (PgMP) Program Management Professional, classroom training, on-line training and webinars.
