Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is there a prerequisite to this course?
Although there is no formal course prerequisite, you should have experience in project management work specifically being able to document your work experience in the five process groups (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, Closing). Please see the PMI® website for requirements to take the PMP exam.
2. How do I get the member discount rate?
By joining PMI® and the SNEC chapter of PMI® you will be qualified for a member discounted rate. Please see the PMI® website to become a member of PMI and the SNEC chapter.
3. Is the PMP® exam fee included in the course fee?
No. You will need to pay an additional fee for the PMP® Exam. The fee is discounted if you are a member of PMI®. For updated information on this please see the PMI® website.
4. Does this course count towards the 35 hours of PM training required to apply for the exam?
Yes, the SNEC-PMI PMP Exam Prep course when successfully completed will satisfy the 35 contact hou6s of PM training required for PMI® PMP Certification Eligibility Application. If you are going to use this course to satisfy the 35 contact hours of Project Management training, you must first successfully complete the course, all assignments and receive a course completion certificate PRIOR to submitting your application to PMI®.
5. How many students are in each class?
SNEC-PMI PMP Exam Prep course class sizes average about 15 students with a maximum of 22.
6. Should I be registered and scheduled for the PMP® exam before I take the course?
You are not required to be registered for the exam but suggest you get a head start in working on the application process. Please see the PMI® website for requirements to take the PMP exam.
7. Can you bill my company for the training?
No. You must use a credit card and register using the SNEC-PMI registration process. Payments are secured and handled by PayPal.
8. Is the PMP® exam given on the last day of the course?
No. The exam is administered by Prometric test centers (www.2test.com) and must be scheduled separately from the course.
9. When do you recommend students take the exam?
SNEC-PMI recommends that you schedule the exam within one month of the completion of the course. Please plan ahead to make sure the Prometric center has availability for your desired date and time.
10. What is your cancellation policy?
If the event is canceled by SNEC-PMI for any reason, the registrants will have the ability to re-register for the next scheduled PMP Exam Preparation course or to receive a full refund. If the event is canceled, registered participants will be notified of the cancellation via an email broadcast. No refunds for user requested cancellations. Credit toward a future SNEC-PMI PMP Exam Prep course will be provided if cancellation is received by the registration deadline. No credit given to cancellations received after the registration deadline. In the event that inclement weather is forecast for the day of the course, a cancellation decision will be made by 7:00 AM that day. If the event is canceled, registered participants will be notified of the cancellation via an email broadcast. We will also endeavor to get meeting cancellation notices broadcast by local media. Notification of the rescheduled event will also be communicated via an email broadcast.
11. What are the credentials of the instructors?
All SNEC-PMI PMP Exam Prep course instructors are PMP® certified, have advanced degrees in Project Management and all have at least 10 years of real world experience in project, program, and/or strategic management. For more specifics, please see Instructor Biographies.
