Dr. Jerry Brightman
A Creative and Innovative Leadership Development Workshop

Workshop Abstract:
This workshop is a four-hour creative leadership development program designed to transform project managers and leaders to become far more creative and innovative in their project thinking, conceptualization, planning, and execution. The context of the course is that the world is changing so dramatically that, as Albert Einstein once said, “The problems we face today cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that existed when the problem arose.” The work begins with the premise that we must work extremely hard at re-discovering and developing our natural leadership capabilities to be flexible, original, adaptable, innovative and creative.

Objectives of the program include:
  1. Seeing projects and project management in a creative new light
  2. Understanding self from a broader more holistic perspective
  3. Rediscovering one's personal creativity and innovation
  4. Seeing a project's future in the present
  5. Theory U: Leading from the future
  6. Shifting from managerial to leadership behaviors
  7. Using Systems Thinking to solve chronic project problems so they stay solved

The workshop will be incredibly robust and interactive because it introduces project managers to brand new and dynamic ways of thinking! Workshop participants will be gently nudged out of their respective (and protective!) comfort zones and, in so doing, begin learning alternative ways of being in the world and seeing their own behaviors in a new light. This is important because validated research in the leadership field tells us that the skills we need going forward are not necessarily the skills we used in the past. The same research also tells us that strengths overused can eventually become weaknesses.

Past participants of Brightman's work have maintained that the program actually changed their lives. Why? Because the final portion of the learning focuses on the most important leadership question of all - “What Really Matters?”

Brian Bozzuto
Agile from the Traditional Project Managers Perspective

Workshop Abstract:
As Agile project management grows in popularity, many project managers find themselves being thrown into projects with instructions to “be Agile” or “use Scrum”. This seminar will seek to answer the questions: what exactly makes a project Agile and how does this align with the project management practices I already know?

This seminar is meant to be a practical, hands-on exercise introducing the basic concepts of Agile project management and give participants a chance to use them within a simple, simulated project. The class will alternate between lecture and iterations of the “Agile Game” used to reinforce the basic concepts and tools being taught.

The class will introduce Agile practices and compare them to those defined within the PMBOK®. While it introduces the basic theory behind Agile, it will be principally focused on giving participants a set of practical tools they can use to execute on Agile projects or even to improve the execution of a traditional project.

Speaker Biography:
Brian Bozzuto is an Agile Coach and Scrum Master with BigVisible Solutions, a provider of Agile training and enablement.
